Is Baruch Lanner Conservative? You make it sound like these Rabbanim allowed men & women in general to sing together. That is preposterous AA Ok, you made your silly and innapropriate joke about Baruch Lanner, but you havn't acknowledged the issue: You said only conservative Rabbis allow unrealted men and women to sing zmirot together. However, the Sridei Aish and SRH both allowed it (yes the Sridei Aish qualified it, but so what? He still allows it, and you put forward the mistaken idea that NO ORTHODOX rabbis allows it under ANY circumstances. This is false. SRH and Sreidai Aish both allow it under some circumstances) Why is the guy who bends over backwards to find food for people to eat in a treif resteruant being such a hardliner on zmirot? Makes no sence.

Answered by Aaron AbadiWhy was that innapropriate? I don't know what circumstances surrounded the Pesak of the Sridei Aish. I never saw anything from Rabbi Hirsch to suggest that he agrees, but if he does, I'll say the same about his Pesak. The society was pretty messed up in their generation. You cannot just follow a Pesak in a Sefer. We have our Seforim and our guidelines. Our Gemara says in Sotah 48a some pretty harsh statements against this. It's not the same as a family together at a Shabbat table. You're talking about men & women singing in general. There is no Heter. Sorry! But this is not a "Heter" forum. It is an honesty forum. You win some, you lose some, but at least your getting the real stuff. All natural, no additives.... AA PS I just had the honor of seeing the Teshuva (Responsa) of the Seridei Aish inside. It is clearly a specific Psak for a specific group at a specific time. You clearly did not have a chance to read it.
