You make much mention that the way the yeshivos learn, covering very little ground, is VERY WRONG-to say the least. I can understand if you are attacking the sytem in regards to IYUN. But are you suggesting that a person in yeshiva should learn practical Halochoh all day without running through Shas even in a B'KIUS-style fashion? I can't fathom the idea that you would mock learning through Shas quickly. In fact, the Chofetz Chaim says we say every morning in the 2nd bracho preceding "Shma", that Hashem should help us learn so we should not be embarressed. The embarressment, explains the Chafetz Chaim, is embarressment in the World to Come. He explains that if we don't establish certain foundations in learning in this world we will have difficulty understanding these Masechtos when they are taught in the next world and the net result will be a lot of embarressment. Basic foundations in Shas need be established in this world, but analysis of Gemoros with no application to daily life is debatable. I hope we are in agreement.
