Sarcasm is the only way to survive in this strange society.... The Shulchan Aruch is very clear. Just follow that. The minhag has changed by Sephardim because the Rabbis often study at Ashkenaz Yeshivot. Now we're doing Payos and Gartels. Meat & wine we start on Rosh Chodesh. The rest, pretty much starts on the week of Tisha BeAv. From Rosh Chodesh Av we cut down on "Simcha," happy things. Like building a new summer home, or making parties. But going on vacation to relax, or fixing your roof, or getting a new car when your lease is up, is all OK. AA
