Air conditioning

Question

Some houses have an electronic key pad to set the airconditioning. Older houses have a dial that you turn to the temperature you want. Can you move this dial on Shabbat?

if the unit is on & you want it to remain on for a longer period, it's OK. Or if it's off & you set it to remain off for a longer period, it's OK. AA
