Artificial Coloring in Salmon

Question

The label on farm raised salmon often lists "artificial coloring". This is misleading. Wild salmon get their pink flesh from the red shrimp and krill that they eat in the open ocean. Farm raised salmon are fed "Purina Salmon Chow" which has coloring in it (probably Red Dye #6) which has the same effect as the red shrimp the wild salmon eat. No coloring, artificial or otherwise, is added to the fillets. Unk
