Asparagus and Lettuce

Question

I have 2 kashrus questions 1) Does one have to clean asparagus before eating it? And if so how?I have heard many different things in regards to this and was wondering what your take is. 2) If I buy prewashed lettuce with a hechsher on it, must I still check it? Thank you very much

1) Avoid the tips and places where bugs hide. 2) If it is a reliable organization, no. AA
