Blech #2
Question
Is it permitted to ask a goy to light a fire under a blech and then to place food on it on shabbos? We had this situation recently because we have 2 small blechs that each covers only half the stove top. We usually use just one blech and only sometimes use a second one. Last shabbos we put up only one blech but realised once shabbos started that we need a second one (the cholent in the crock pot was too high and we wanted to remove it from the crockpot and place it on a blech). Since the cholent is boiling hot, we wondered if it could be placed then by a goy or ourselves directly on to the blech above the flame if a goy lit it and put the blech on. Thanks

Answered by Aaron AbadiHow can you have a Non-Jew light a fire on Shabbat?! You can't have a non-Jew do a "Melacha" on Shabbat. I know you learned that. AA
