Candles on Yom Tov

Question

If you light the candles on the second night of Yom Tov in a dark room, wouldn't this be OK, since you are giving light to the room?

If you need the light in the room, why not use real lights. If you don't need the light in that room, for example, if you're not going to use it, then you are not allowed to light there. AA
