casein, and other cheese stuff

Question

Dear Rav Abadi, 1. milichigs or pareve? 2. i was going to ask about exotic cheeses like rice cheese, but if I understand correctly, you wrote that to be cheese, it must be from milk 3. I know you believe in intellectual honesty, so I don/t feel that I am being rude in asking this. I had learned and seen in my less perceptive years that reb chaim ozer not only allowed gelatin, but allowed unsupervised hard cheese. I won't ask how come, i will just assume that like many ashkenazim he followed rabeinu taam and ignored the gezeirah vs gevinat akum is the ingredients are kosher. do you remember what reason he gave for saying the ingredients of hard cheese is kosher.{i follow your psak in these matters} thank you jh

Answer

Answered by Aaron Abadi

1) Casein is Pareve 2) Correct 3) Where did he write that? I'll look it up and tell you. When you say "many Askenazim," it is misleading. An overwhelming majority of Poskim did not hold like Rabbeinu Tam. AA
