Chicken and Dairy

Question

I understand that because of a Rabbinic decree- one is not allowed to mix chicken and dairy even though chicken is not technically given the status of "meat" since it could cause an inyin of maras iyin (although I have seen fish dishes which also cause that same problem- I will leave that part of the issue aside for now). My question is this- assuming that one holds like norm and doesn't mix dairy with chicken why is one required to wait after eating chicken dishes that he is sure included no other meat than chicken? Don't play with fire! The Rabbinic decrees are not as adjustable and flexible as you'd like. The mechanics of a Halachah may contain certain components. But once the Halachah is determined, it is not given to people's personal preferences. The Halachah is that it cannot be eaten together and the Halachah is that you must wait six hours. Period! AA
