deliveries on shabbat

Question

If one receives a package delivered on shabbat (UPS, FedEx, etc.) -- may one sign as proof of receipt? (sign as usual? sign with one's other hand? what if the non-Jewish deliverer will not leave it without a signature and it is essential for shabbat, eg, a table and chairs?) Thank you!
