Question

Was it a brisker? I know that Rav Chayim wouldnt let himself pasken halacha for fear that hed contradict the Shulchan Arukh. He let Maharal Diskin pasken. I also know that people like Rav Avraham Yehoshua arent so fond of the SA. Maybe our suspect is from that chevra?
