Question
The Rav recently answered a question about learning Tanach, Mishna, Gemara and Halacha. Can the Rav please address which sefarim he recommends to develop practical Avodas Hashem? It is difficult to be able to use Tanach and Gemara as we should for practical tools to deal with Western society and its challenges. We do not have many people, such as the Rav, who are more interested in Torat Chaim than chumra. What is the Rav's opinion on studying the Moreh? My son is struggling with some major issues in hashkafah and does not want me to answer his questions, but to introduce him to sources that can guide him.

Answered by Aaron AbadiThe Rambam was not too keen on anyone studying philosophy. The Moreh is certainly above most people's capabilities. What type of issues in Hashkafa? How deep can he go? Let him post some questions here or email me. The Chovot Halvavot is an excellent resource, but it is not for everyone. AA
