Question
Why isn't turning on a light considered grama? All one is doing is allowing electric current to flow, which ultimately travels through a filament and heats it to the point that it glows. On the other hand, turning off a light is the prevention of further current flow, which should also be a gerama of kibbuy (extinguishing). If this were gerama, would it be permitted only on Yom Tov, on Shabbat, neither or both? Thank You.
