elevator on shabbat

Question

Kvod Harav, I will be in a condominium building on the 17th floor for shabbos. May I instruct my housekeeper before shabbos that whenever I walk towards the elevator she is to press lobby for me (or press 17 if I am in the lobby trying to go upstairs). Thank you. Jeff

no, sorry. You can enter the elevator and then wait till you somehow, with Hashem's help, reach the floor. Your maid cannot do that for you. CYA
