Follow up on Kashering and Ingredients
Question
1)I had asked whether if a person used a keli in the past 24 hours for a dry-cooking, but its majority use is for liquid cooking, can he still do hagala. You said this is technically irrelevant because it wouldn't happen Erev pesach. What made you think I was referring to erev Pesach? I was asking as a general rule! 2) I thought you mentioned in prior posts that vitamins are considered nourishment and therefore cannot contain ingredients that are non-Kosher. Is chametz an exception, or does it just happen to be that all vitamins are chametz-free?
Answer
Answered by Aaron Abadi1) If it is for Chametz, it is OK because it is Hetera Balaa. But otherwise, it needs Libun. Hagala needs that 24 hour period. 2) The Vitamin issue was on hold until we got a final Psak (halachic decision) saying that any medicines or vitamins are OK even if they contain Chametz or non-Kosher ingredients.
