gelatin

Question

Rabbi, Is gelatin produced anywhere in the world kosher? Or only in Israel and the U.S.? Another question, and I'm not trying to stir controversy: if there is doubt among different poskim about whether gelatin is kosher, isn't it advisable to "play it safe"and not consume it? Why take the risk that before the Heavenly Court it might be problematic? True, the Torah is not in Heaven, but ultimately, it is Heaven that holds us accountable for our deeds on Earth.
