Hot Water
Question
In your father's sefer p. 180 he says that one can use the hot water from a dud shem on Shabbat. Why is this permissible but it is not permissible to turn on the hot water in your house to wash your hands, where the cold water goes into the boiler? Also, why is it a pesik reisha de-lo nicha leh when the water comes into the dud shemesh and is cooked? Thanks.
Answer
Answered by Aaron Abadi1) The cooking of a solar heater is a sub-category of cooking with the sun, which is OK. The cooking in a regular boiler is cooking by fire, which is not OK. 2) You care if there is more water coming? You want your water now. The more cold water that comes in the less hot your water is. You don't want that. AA
