Hot Water on Shabbat

Question

The sinks in my house all have one faucet, as opposed to one for hot and one for cold. Does the faucet have to be all the way to the cold side when I turn it on on shabbat? Or can I turn it on somewhere in the middle so that the water is not freezing but not warm either? Thank you!
