Question

How would you explain the disproportionate emphasis on teaching kashrut and almost nothing about Eretz Yisrael in American yeshiva system.They are producing a generation of jews who look for hechsher on their laundry detergent but have no understanding of impotance of loving and living in Eretz Yisrael

The living in Eretz Yisrael is wonderful, but today is not too practical for most. There isn't a good opportunity for Parnasa (income). Children of Olim have serious problems in schools there. The real moving to Eretz Yisrael will be when Moshiach comes. Until then, we need not over estimate the value of today's Israel, being run & controlled by Mumrim Le'Hach'is (anti-religious). Often the love for Eretz Yisrael today, is a cop out from living and dealing with the real world. I think everyone knows what I'm saying. Look at the Gemara at the end of Ketubot regarding Aliyah & also look at Teshuvot Tzaidah Laderech for a fascinating insight into Aliyah many generations ago. AA
