Kashrut Notice

B”H Dear Rabbi, In a local grocery store, the local kosher supervising agency posted a notification on a donut case that reads: “These doughnuts do not have (supervising agency) supervision and are therefore NOT KOSHER.” Supposing the doughnuts do not contain any non-kosher ingredients, and they are prepared in an area absent of meat products (they are dairy), is this notification accurate? Shouldn’t the notice say the doughnuts are “Not kosher by the (supervising agency)” rather than “Not Kosher”? Is the notice itself “not kosher”? Thank you, Michelle

This is a typical case of a Hashgacha gone too far. The note should have read, "This product is not under our Hashgacha". There have been many cases of this attitude. Hersheys had an issue with the OU years ago, over this type of language when they took their Hashgacha off Hersheys. The smaller Hashgachas probably have to learn through their mistakes. CYA
