Kosher?
Question
Hi, This is my first time to the board. I notice that the Rav here says that foods which do not have certification are indeed kosher. Can you please explain?
Answer
Answered by Aaron AbadiThere are many responses that address this question. The short answer is, if the ingredients listed are all Kosher, then the product is Kosher. Certification is a 20th Century invention. It is not mentioned as a standard in any previous society, and just 20 years ago, it was relatively new. Rabbi Moshe Feinstein has a Teshuva (Responsa) that works with the same concept, and as a kid, I remember that we all relied on the ingredients. The rumour that less than 2% is not required by the FDA to be listed, is not true. Ask the FDA, or look at their website (see link in our FAQ's). AA
