kosher ingredients

Question

Dear Rabbi, You wrote in response to a question on 4/29/2003 that Magnesium Stearate and Stearic Acis are Kosher and Parev. Could you please explain why this is so, as they both are animal derivatives. Thank you, Michael Hoffman
