It makes me furious and quite sad when quite a few frum people think they have the authority to consider certain rabbonim's psakim not legitmate. I wonder who gave Der Yid the authority to declare Rabbi Abadi's psak false when he (Der Yid) makes a statement like this: "Sonny, unless you're taking precautians (i.e. double wrapping) you're not allowed to use the same oven for milk and meat!!!" Is there a way you could explain to this Der Yid person that Rabbi Abadi does not hold by the "two ovens are mandatory unless you double wrap all your food or your kasher the oven between the two" opinion? You (Aaron/AA) have said quite a few times on the forum that according to your father, one oven can be used for both meat and dairy at different times provided: a. that the oven is clean b. the food doesn't spill all over c. The food is not put directly on the rack In fact, once or twice you even said that you could even put COVERED meat and dairy items in at the same time, when they're covered. When Der Yid wrote this very arrogant post, all CYA (Chaim Yisroel) said was "Oh, I didn't know that. Why not?" Is there a way either of you could try to tell Der Yid that Rabbi Abadi does not follow that opinon Der Yid forces down our throats and that not all poskim agree with him or her? Aaron, could you please talk with or remind people (particluarly those that are new to checking out the website) things like: 1. Not all the people we accept as rabbis are qualified poskim. It's important that each of us get a qualified rov and follow his psakim 100%, not blindly go by whatever is accepted by the "general Orthodox community". Please tell us more about what it takes for a rov to be a qualfied posek. 2. We can't declare a halacha from merely reading a sefer or worse, from reading an English translation of that sefer. Please also talk more with us about the proper method of Torah study and how much of the "Orthodox" community today doesn't fulfill all the criteria needed for proper lilmud Torah. 3. Sometimes a widely accepted posek may say one thing but WRITE another for political reasons. Aaron has talked several times on the forum about how Rav Moshe ZT"L said contradictory things on a few issues to avoid being attacked (e.g. cholov yisroel) Like I've said before, I'm not interested in what people like Der Yid or the frum establishment (OU/OK/star K/chof K and the other hashgachos endorsed by Rabbi Eidlitz; Artscroll, Feldheim, etc..) think or believe. I follow whatever my one qualified rov says, which is Rabbi Abadi. Incidentally, not all of R' Abadi's psakim are "meikel" or "lenient". Some of R' Abadi's pesakim are quite strict and "machmir" like: gevinas yisroel being mandatory on all cheeses, the problem with bugs in many veggies, absolutely no davening Maariv before sunset, negiah, it's forbidden to go to ANYTHING in a Conservative or Reform temple, and a whole number of other issues.... I'm sorry this was so long, but it's pretty alarming and sad when someone treats a posek as if their p'sak is false. Thanks as always for all your help. Good Shabbos and Shabbat Shalom.
