Laws of Safek
Question
In your FAQ regarding Hametz after Pesach you say that because it is safek d'rabbanan it is o.k. to buy from all stores without checking if they were owened by Jews or sold their Hametz. However, I thought the law of safek does not apply where you can easily find out the real situation such in this case where you can simply ask the store owner. This is only a safek because we aren't asking. If we ask the safek will be gone. Please explain.
Answer
Answered by Aaron AbadiYou go into Waldbaums and ask whom? In my neighborhood they asked a Pakistani Moslem storeowner if he was Jewish and as a joke he said Yes, his mother is Jewish. Till this day the shuls announce that he is Jewish & you can't buy in that store. It's not called Efsher Levrury Bekal. AA
