Milchig in St Lucia
Question
Dear Rabbi I will be on vacation in St Lucia next week with no kosher food to speak of. Other than cheese which I know you are very strongly against eating, can I partake of all other non-meat meals?
Answer
Answered by Aaron AbadiGo into the kitchen and ask them to allow you to put the fish pot on the fire, to avoid having you food cooked by a non-Jew. Confirm the ingredients with them that they're Kosher. If you are not familiar with the fish, ask if it had fins and scales. Don't be shy. I do it all the time & most restaurants are proud to help you. If they won't let you in the kitchen, I'd be afraid to eat there. Many places can give you canned tuna, vegetables, smoked salmon, and lots of other food. It pays to ask a million questions. As long as they are just answering your questions without knowing what answers you're looking for, it's fine. You can trust them. Enjoy your trip! AA
