Orla
Question
I just bought a miniature Calamondin Orange tree. I asked the grower how old it was, and he said about 4 years. Do you know what the status would be regarding Orla? Do we count 3 years from the time of the planting (4 years ago), or from when it started giving fruit (he didn't know)? Neta revii in Chutz LaAretz only applies to grapes, right? Thank You!
Answer
Answered by Chaim Yisrael AbadiIt starts from the day it was planted. But, if it was uprooted from one place to another, you need to make sure there was enough dirt along with the tree that it would survive till it rerooted itself. If not, then it would start from the new date. In Chutz Laaretz we have to be machmir on neta revai mesafek. CYA
