Plates

Question

If I inherit metal plates from a non-kosher person, do I have to kasher them? What is the status of plates? Are they keli sheni, or since food goes from the pot directly onto the plate, does this mean that there are different halakhot (I think it's called irui keli rishon)?

It's normally used as a Keli Sheni &/or for cold food. It does not require Kashering. If it makes you feel good, be my guest. AA
