powdered milk
Question
RYA, please clarify previous posts about the parve status of powdered milk. Also, if when I add water to the powder, it becomes Ra'ui L'achilah, does it still retain its parve status?? Thanx Chaim
Answer
Answered by Chaim Yisrael AbadiI don't remember if I saw every post, but let me clear up some of it. Powdered milks (skim or regular) are dairy. If it is mixed into something that is not edible, then it is pareve, as any other inedible food would be. If it is in something that is edible only because you add a flavoring of any sort, then it is dependent upon when the powdered milk was added. If the powdered milk was added before the flavoring, then it is pareve. If it was added after the flavoring, then it is dairy. The halacha would be the same with meat or treif. CYA
