Charif clarification

Question

In previous posts, AA has stated there is no difference between Sephardim and Ashkenazim with regard to davar charif - they are all to follow the mechaber's lenient shita (only being concerned about a ben-yomo knife). CYA suggests that Ashkenazim should follow the Rama's more stringent position (being concerned even about an eino-ben-yomo). What is the final deal?
