Praying amongst the Heathens

Question

Dear Rabbi, I work in an office with gentiles and I have the following question. Some days I need to get in to work early and I don't have time to say my morning prayers at home. Is it permissible for me to pray at work amongst the gentiles? And would it make a difference if they mock me whilst I pray? As always your inciteful advise is sought.

It is OK to pray in front of gentiles, and if anything, they'll respect you. It is ideal to pray in a place that you'll have the most peace & quiet, in order to concentrate. Praying in the hallway in front of the elevator is certainly a bad choice. It would be preferable to sit in a quiet spot, rather than stand in a busy one. AA
