purim...yom kipur
Question
i heard that purim is the holyest day of the year and that yom kipur can be read as "yom kepurim"- like purim. if this is a case then why is it a mitzva to get drunk... and why arnt we davening the whole day? what is the essence of a "holy" day? thank you
Answer
Answered by Aaron AbadiHoly or not holy, every Holiday has it's requirements. (Holi-day) Purim celebrates our being saved from destruction, and was set for a party. Yom Kippur is a day of judgment, not appropriate to party. AA
