re: letting it out!!!

Question

Dear Rabbi Abadi: I feel Rochella's frustration. Hashem chooses your parents for you. The parents are commanded by Hashem to teach the children. Today, most parents are unable to do so and opt for hiring the schools to do it in their place, much like how we hire a Mohel to perform Brit Milah for us. The problem that have is this: If the school and the parents are in disagreement on major issues of Halacha and Hashgafa, the children learn that they have no choice but to either disrespect their parents by obeying the school (which is a Torah level problem), or disrespect their parents by disrespecting the school, which yet the SAME Torah level problem because the school is the parent's agent for the performance of the Mitzvah of Education. This problem gets even worse if different children are in different schools, as you could imagine. Ultimately, a thinking child has no choice but to decide that it is all nonsense because no reasonable G-d can actually be commanding anything that anyone is telling us, and those children end up becoming completely non-Observant of the entire Oral Torah as a result. I've only seen this happen about 500 times. No exagerration. I wish we could just "watch it play out" as you suggested, but when we do that we lose our entire generation for no good reason. These are issues to not be silent about at all. We must vocal and make sure are heard with our voices and with our wallets Our voices and wallets supported the people that created these problems and those are the exactly the tickets to eliminate these problems. If we cannot find a school or a teacher or a Rabbi or an agent to educate our children according to the Torah of our fathers, grandfathers, and great grandfathers, then it is our responsibility to do it ourselves as we are directly commanded to do. I happen to know of a school that recently lost over 100 students due to an expression of revolt on the part of the parents. They noticed, and it's quite possible changes are in the wind. We need to be extremely activist about this kind of thing because our children are all we have. If we can't be vocal and activist about raising children to follow the ways of our Torah, then there is no other issue to fight about or live for. Just like the President (played by Henry Fonda) said in "Fail Safe" about nuclear weapons "We put them there. We have the power to take them away." Thankfully your website is reconciling quite a few kids with their faith (and their parents) some of them happen to be kids in their 40s and 50s !

If you have the ability to speak out and not jeopardize the schools relationship with your child then, by all means you must do so, but in some cases the schools hurt the children they were entrusted by you to educate. I know, I've seen it first hand. In short, it is easy to say but hard to do, unless you have a large group like the case you mentioned. Meanwhile, just tell your children that just like the schools teach about other religions (which is ASSUR) and we say just remember it for the test, the same can be said for the other things that do not fit in with Toras Moshe Misinai.
