Question

Please, why must we tell a live in maid in our house not to do the laundry on Shabbat, but we do not stop them from vacuuming? Is it different if the maid is hired to come on Shabbat ONLY for the purpose of vacuuming the house, dong the dishes and mopping the floors? Is it permissible to hire a contract cleaning service, owned by a Jew to send Gentile workers to come to the synagogue to vacuum, mop the floors and sweep up outside on Shabbat? What if the catering manager in the shul (Jewish) is asking the Gentile workers to 1) heat up water in a commercial coffee pot for the kiddush 2) drive a truck to pick up or deliver equipment on Shabbat for a Shabbat kiddush. 3) vacuum or mop Thank you, as you can imagine these are real issues in the community where we live
