Re: VCR on Shabbat

Thank you for the response. I had previously inquired about setting a VCR to record on Shabbat. Somebody told me that Rabbi Moshe Feinstein forbade the use of any timers on Shabbat except for use in lights and air conditioners. The supposed rationale for this distinction was that he felt there was no way to get people to stop using them once they had already grown accustomed to these particular uses. Are you familiar with this? From your response that it is permissible, I assume that this fellow must be mistaken.
