refrigerator light bulb

Question

Is it necessary to turn off the light bulb inside one's refrigerator for shabbat? If the answer is yes, what if I forget to turn it off and realizes after shabbat has begun? Is it better to turn the lightbulb off on shabbat in order to prevent myself from continually turning it on each time the fridge is opened...or should I just leave it on? Thanks
