School Prayer

Question

When my children were in kindergarten and second grade they attended a yeshiva day school that taught the children to prayer the Shemona Esrai forward and then backward. Backward as in each letter,word etc backward so that they would be saying complete gibberish at lightening speed. I told the principal that my children would not pray this way, that a Jew does not approach the King of Kings and speak backward gibberish. My children were recommended for "occupational therapy" the very next week (in otherwords kicked out of the school for being to learning disabled to keep up with the class, supposedly some expert tested them and coincidence of coincidences they both had the same problem). Is it such a shock that tefilla is a mumbling contest? I have not met a young person from any of the day schools who understands what they are saying in their prayers. Nor have I met a Torah Reader who was under 40 who reads as if he understands any of the words. I was the only parent who had a problem with the backward Shemona Esrai by the way. How will our children carry forward to the next generation?
