How long before Shabbat should I turn my hot water heater below 125 degrees, so that once Shabbat starts and I turn on the hot water, I am not cooking the new water that comes in?

Answered by Rabbi AbadiAnytime. How can this be right? If you lower the heat 5 minutes before Shabbat, then when you put on the hot water five minutes after Shabbat the water in the tank will still be so hot that it will cause the new water entering to be cooked. Don't we have to wait until the water in the tank has reduced its temperature?
