It's complicated. I remember when I was in Yeshiva and I was learning about Shiluach Haken, a friend kept trying to find the right situation. Every time he found a bird's nest, he would call my father and describe it to him, and my father would explain to him why it would not apply. Finally, after several phone calls my father said, "what? you are looking to do a Mitzvah? Sit and learn! That's the biggest Mitzvah" I know that lately we have these obsessions to do certain Mitzvot that are not common, but our real responsibility is to concentrate on our day-to-day operations. AA
