sodium casinate

Question

a new ice cream store in Brooklyn opened up( uncle Louie g'S)under orthodox hashgacha. they claim that some of their ices are dairy because they contain sodium casinate. i looked up in dr. winters book on ingrediants and it states that "sc" is a chemical derivative of milk. does this mean that it is dairy? can i eat the ices with/after meat? thank very much for your help. moses
