Techailet

Question

What is your opinion regarding these new techailt tzitzis that are arriving from Israel. The people who are selling these tzitzis claim that they have correctly identified the organism from which the tchaile was made from. Is this true, and even if it is true, is it better to wear them, or does a beit din have to establish the techailet as being correct? It seems o me that this is another shtus that people are using simply to make money off of the ignorant, but I'm not a posek. Thank you in adance for our response.

You are correct! It's not a Shtus (stupidity), it's just not true. If it were the real Tcheilet, it would be wonderful. It just isn't. So I guess we should all go out & redeem a Peter Chamor instead. Once when I was in high school & a friend was very interested in doing "Shiluach Haken," because we were currently learning that topic in Yeshiva. Every time he found a bird's nest, he called my father to find out if it was the right scenario. And every time it was not. Eventually my father said to him, "What? You're looking to do Mitzvot? Sit & learn. That's a good mitzvah!" AA
