Is it permitted to say tehillim for a choleh (sick person) or is that considered "Halochesh Al Hamkah"? If it's not considered "Halochesh...." please explain why not, and provide sources either way please. (Also maybe you can enlighen me how this minhag started) thanx.
Answer
Answered by Aaron AbadiSaying Tehillim is permitted if one says the Tehillim & does Teshuva & has in mind that the Zechut should help the sick person. Look at Shulchan Aruch Yoreh Deah #179: 8,9, & 10 and look at the Gilyon Maharsha there. AA
