There is such a thing as knee hi cotton stockings!! They are very popular in England because they last forever and are very comfortable and hygenic. They are cotton just like comfortable short crew socks, but they are a thin flat weave like stockings. This is NOT the cable knee hi's like the little girls wear. They look just like regular knee hi stockings from the outside, but feel like cotton tennis socks from the inside. This way your sneakers will feel comfortable and you will not have to either wear two layers of stocking or buy oversized mens crew socks and pull them up to your knees (lovely). Also they come in every colour. They are even made in a wool blend for cooler climates, and they last for years, unlike regular knee hi stockings. I get them for my daughters from Mr. Loeb at Legose in Monsey, Brooklyn and Lakewood. He ships them to us in Miami. Also Buster Brown makes them and they are available online from the Vermont Country Store. Hope this helps!!!
