Question

on 9/12/02 (subject ohel) I asked if it was ok to open a patio umbrella on shabbat because it is already open a tephach and you replyed "Even without that reason it is OK, because it is made to be used in this way. (Asui Lekach)" how is a regular rain umbrella different? can you use it on yom tov when carrying is not forbidden?
