Vegetable soup

Question

I don't understand. If you are at a restaurant, especially a small one, you can ask the chef if the veggie soup has been on the stove all day, or if he used the bowl to earlier make a non-kosher soup. Shouldn't we inquire if we can? If not, why not?

If it's very simple, go ahead. It's almost never that simple, and then you are not required to look into it. AA
