Women and razor blades

Question

I recently read in Shul related type of publication that women do not have the same prohibition of shaving with a single blade on their faces as men have. I might be mistaken and did not understand the article. I understand women might have unwanted hair on their chin of cheeks which can be due to hormones and quite unsettling to them. Would they be allowed to use a blade in place of an electric shaver? Another point in the article applied to women nurses that need to shave men for a surgical procedure. If the man is Jewish I can believe he could have a problem with the single blade shave but the women nurse might be allowed? Thanks in advance.
