Yehareg V'al Yavor

Question

You wrote in 1 of your responses that yehareg v'al yavor applies to a sin done in public. Does this mean any sin, what about a derabanan?Also, is the beracha different if it's a sin in public or one of the 3 big sins in private? Thank you.
