Question

Dear Rabbi, I accept it, but I need to know why. That`s a fair question. Isn`t it? Thanks

Sure! We've explained it many times. 1) There is no chance that you will get flavor from one product to the next. Did you ever open a can of something and taste a flavor of something else? If there is something there but you can't taste it, it is Batel, based on the concept of Kefeilah. Even though we don't trust a Kefeilah today, but we Jews taste all types of products and can testify that the flavor of the previous run does not carry to the next. 2) In reality, the machines are cleaned thoroughly between runs. 3) The risk of having meat or cheese in a non-meat/cheese product can be very costly in a lawsuit. 4) Stam Keilim Ainum Beney Yomam, & therefore Noten Taam Lifgam. 5) Only the first run after a meat/cheese run would ever have the possibility of having an issue. Who says your can was from the first run of a run immediately after meat/cheese. Sefek Sefeka and then some. 6) What did they do for tomato sauce before the OU? What did they do in Europe? They bought their bread from the non-Jews. The Gemara tells us that, & they have been doing that throughout history. What about the Hasgachah? It didn't exist. What is Pat Paltar? It's bread made at a non-Jewish Bakery. You know what's in the bread, it's a standard bread, and you didn't worry about it having non-Kosher ingredients. You also didn't worry about the pots and pans. If the Rabbanim of yesteryear were around today, we wouldn't eat in their homes. Interestingly enough, I noticed over the years that some of my father's students were following him 100% on Laws of Nidah (family purity), yet when it came to these far-out kashrut scenarios, they were afraid to follow. Why?! Because we are robots. We do what we are programmed to do. Our whole life we did one way, we won't change, even upon realization that it's OK. On the other hand, Hilchot Nidah was never programmed, and can thus be accepted through one's intelligence. AA
