Could you please write the guidelines for the rule maalim bakodesh - why does it not apply to a shirt that was set aside for shabbat as it does to a building that was set aside for a beit keneset or a table which was designated for placing the torah scroll on may not be used for a lesser purpose.

The Gemara & Rishonim show you where it is used & where it isn't. We don't just grab a concept and apply it. Don't learn Torah by trying out all the different concepts. Just learn through Shas & Poskim & the rest will come. AA
