pasta
Question
what would be the requirmnets of eating pasta in a nonkosher restaurant? (example-different pots- turning on fire-utensils??)
Answer
Answered by Aaron AbadiPots need to be Kosher, since you are coming and saying, "cook me pasta." Either have them give you a pot that they claim was not used in a 24-hour period. This pot can be Kashered by putting some water in it, covering it, boiling it, and getting it good and steamed up. Then run it under cold water and voila, you have a kosher pot. If there is no pot that wasn't used in 24-hours, then to Kasher a pot, you should do Libun. This can be done by putting the pot on the fire empty until it burns it to a point that any food absorbed or on it would burn to a crisp. This should not take very long. A few minutes or so. Even less sometimes. Then run it under cold water. If they will microwave food for you, just use a clean plastic container and you don't need to Kasher it. Now you resolved issue # 1, because you have a Kosher pot. Then confirm that all the ingredients they are giving you are Kosher, put them in the pot, and put the pot on the fire. You are all set. Enjoy! AA
